At 1,083 acres State Gamelands 230 contains rich habitat, but be aware, 44 acres are high-use shooting ranges. Great for beginners or experienced wildlife watchers. Free and open to the public. Please follow gameland regulations as posted in parking areas.
Walk or bicycle along easy trails through a mix of woodlands and fields to catch a glimpse of a variety of species including the Ruby-crowned Kinglet, and an assortment of field warblers including the Yellow-breasted Chat. Catch a great view of the Kittatinny Ridge.
Directions: From Interstate 81, take Carlisle exit 47, Route 34/Hanover Street. Travel north on Route 34 through Carlisle and continue to the village of Carlisle Springs. Turn left on Route 944, and watch for signs on the right.
NOTICE: Anyone who rides a non-motorized vehicle, conveyance or animal on State Game Lands must do so only on designated routes. Such riding activities will not be permitted, except on Sundays or on roads open to public travel, from the last Saturday in September to the third Saturday in January, and after 1 p.m. from the second Saturday in April to the last Saturday in May. This does not apply to anyone lawfully engaged in hunting, trapping or fishing on State Game Lands.
DESIGNATED ROUTES for Horses and Bicycles 1.0 Mile - Starting at a gate along State Route 944 in North Middleton Township, and traversing a Game Lands road 1.0 mile north, east, and then south back to State Route 944.
