The town's motto is "A Good Place to Live," and it must be true, because Cumberland Valley's Mechanicsburg has been attracting residents and visitors since 1807. Mechanicsburg is a history lover's dreamtown, peppered with old Pennsylvania Railroad sites including: The Stationmaster's House built in 1863, the Passenger Station erected in 1866 and the Freight Station built circa 1870. The Frankenberger Tavern and Union Church, both built in the early 1800s, are excellent examples of early Pennsylvania architecture and lifestyle.
April 2010: Forbes ranked Carlisle-Harrisburg (Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry) as No. 5 on its “most livable cities” list.
June 2010: Forbes ranked Carlisle-Harrisburg (Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry) as No. 2 among America's best places to raise a family.
