All Day
A full day of outdoor adventure awaits the young and young at heart at our three state parks. Mother Nature endowed our county with beautiful forests, waterways and mountains. From hiking, biking and bird watching to boating, swimming and fishing, every family member will find at least one activity to enjoy. Novice hikers and veteran ridge runners alike will enjoy hiking the famous Appalachian Trail, while the couch potatoes can simply take in the scenery. Everyone will enjoy the newly opened Appalachian Trail Museum featuring changing exhibits, a children's area and hikers' lounge. This is the first museum dedicated to hiking in the country and located just 2 miles from the midway point of the 2,175-mile Appalachian Trail.
Evening
Now that you’ve worked up an appetite, it’s time to feed your hungry troop. Feast on your own smoked campfire grub, or, treat your family to dinner out at a restaurant. From traditional family style to ethnic cuisine, we can satisfy your taste and fill those tummies. Save room for dessert—calories don’t count when you’re on vacation!
Overnight
You’re sure to be exhausted at the end of this day, but don’t worry, Cumberland Valley is filled with many kinds of sleeping options. If you’re camping, just tuck the kids into sleeping bags. If you seek more civilized creature comforts, you can rest your head at one of our many family-friendly hotels.
Morning
Wake up to an exciting day in the saddle. Take a guided horseback ride around beautiful North Mountain. Your tour guide will point out interesting sights along the way, and if you keep your eyes open and speak softly, you might be rewarded with views of wildlife enjoying their habitat. Photo opp! You can also explore the Valley by foot, bike or pole with some help from an experienced guide.
Afternoon
Explore the other outdoor wonders of Cumberland Valley. Feeding an alpaca at Bent Pine Alpaca Farm. Meander your way through a corn maze at Paulus Farm Market and grab lunch or a snack at one of many farmer's markets. If you want to give the hiking shoes a breather, or if it rains, your family can switch to an indoor activity, like shopping or making creative works of art at Color Me Mine. To walk in soldier's footsteps take a walk along the Army Heritage and Education Center's Army Heritage Trail.
Evening
The fun continues after dark! Laugh yourself silly at a family-friendly attractions. Kids of all ages will enjoy the thrill of racing go-karts around the track or hitting a hole-in-one at a mini golf course. For movie lovers, entertainment on wheels awaits at the Cumberland Drive-in Theatre, a genuine 50’s style drive-in theater. No matter how you spend this evening together, your whole family will remember the good times for a lifetime.
Morning
Wind down your vacation with a relaxing visit to Children’s Lake in Boiling Springs. The kids will enjoy feeding the myriad of ducks and swans that inhabit this famous lake. Finish your adventure by making a splash and cooling off at Boiling Springs Pool and Waterpark before heading for home.
