Helping to kick-off the Civil War 150 celebration we will be featuring David Kincaid, The Irish Volunteer. David is recognized as both a musician and historian. He presents a compelling combination of the songs and history of the Irish in the American Civil War. His music has been used in several documentary films and he was engaged as a consultant and performer in the Hollywood Civil War film release "Gods & Generals". David Kincaid's appearance if made possible through a grant from the Cumberland Valley Visitors Bureau to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Dave Shuey, a local Civil War reenactor, will also be on hand portraying Lt. John Singleton Mosby, a confederate soldier.
There will also be musical performances by The Martin Family Band, Charlie Zahm, Fire in the Glen, Irishtown Road , Rebel Heart Irish Dancers, Scottish Country Dancers. The Scottish Society of Central Pennsylvania will once again hold the Bonnie Knees competition.
The Two Mile House will be open for tours and feature an art exhibit by the Susquehanna
Valley Plein Air Painters and a historical society photo exhibit of the Civil War in Cumberland County.
Highland Athletics will take place throughout the day and feature 7 different events including the caber toss. Border Collie demonstrations will take place at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Special events for children will run throughout the day.
