SHIPPENSBURG, PA (February 25, 2013) - The H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center at Shippensburg University is offering BALLROOM DANCE LESSONS, beginning Monday, March 25, 2013. Classes take place six consecutive Monday evenings through April 29, 2013, on-stage in the inspirational setting of the Grove Theatre, inside the Luhrs Center.
Three different classes are offered, based on experience level; Beginner (5:30-6:30 pm), Advanced (6:30-7:30 pm) and Third Timers (7:30-8:30 pm). Classes are taught by seasoned dance instructor, Frank Hancock.
Classic dance lessons are taught based on skill and experience level. Beginner classes include Swing, Foxtrot, ChaCha and Tango. Advanced classes include the Waltz, Mambo, Two-Step, Rumba and Advanced Swing. Third Timers classes are offered for more experienced dancers who want to "kick it up a notch" to advanced levels of ballroom dance such as the Junior Waltz, Rumba, Hustle, Merengue, Polka and Cupid Shuffle.
It's a unique opportunity to learn ballroom dance moves on the same stage where Broadway dancers from Gypsy, Annie and Grease have performed. This is also the perfect time to brush up on your skills as a refresher, or if you're a beginner and preparing for the upcoming wedding season. Both singles and couples are welcome to register.
The cost is $35 per person for the entire six session course. For additional information or to register for the classes, contact the Luhrs Center Box Office at (717) 477-SHOW (7469). Please note, online registration is not available.
