CARLISLE, PA (August 5, 2010) - Join us at History on High - The Shop located at 33 West High Street in Carlisle for a book signing by local author Gisela McBride, featuring her book "Memoirs of a 1000-Year-Old Woman" on Saturday, August 21, from 1-3 p.m.

The book is an account of the everyday life of a girl growing up in Berlin during Adolf Hitler's Third Reich. The author captures the reader's attention by weaving together her personal experiences with the political and social upheaval of the time.

Ms. McBride left Germany in December 1947 and has lived in England, Canada, Bermuda and the U.S. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a liberal arts degree. Ms. McBride is also an accomplished artist and has exhibited her work in Pennsylvania and Washington DC.

The Cumberland County Historical Society is an active history center with an award winning museum, library, photo archives, educational center, museum shop and historic Two Mile House.
