CARLISLE, PA (April 4, 2013) - As the months churn forward towards the first-ever Carlisle Sports and Outdoor Nationals, more and more vendors and organizations have declared this event their new home for all things sports and outdoor. Following the postponement and eventual cancellation of the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, the Carlisle staff has been working overtime to accommodate the continuous requests for grounds space and event information. All told, event manager Scott Amig has redrawn and reorganized his frequently expanding event-planning map on three separate occasions. As part of his efforts, this non-automotive event promoted by Carlisle Events is shaping up to position Carlisle as a prime time player in not just the automotive world, but the sports and outdoor world too.
With continued interest from enthusiasts and vendors alike, many organizations have moved their championship events from Harrisburg to Carlisle. Those competitions include multiple activities backed by the National Wild Turkey Federation, a state knife and tomahawk throwing championship sponsored by the Pennsylvania Federation of Muzzleloaders, Casting for Kids and Celebrity casting contest, presented by Capital City Bassmasters and many more. There are other organizations that have contacted Carlisle Events and intend to position themselves with the weekend but to date have not inked a contract to do so. More names, including those who have given verbal commitments will be announced soon. In the meanwhile, a complete rundown of finalized activities are available via www.CarlisleEvents.com/Events/SportsOutdoor, the official web page of the Carlisle Sports and Outdoor Nationals.
"The cancellation of the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show has opened many doors for us," noted event manager Scott Amig. "The event not only played a large economic role for the city of Harrisburg, but it also meant a lot to the hundreds of vendors that positioned themselves with the event annually. Because those vendors are now without a true sports and outdoor audience to showcase their products, it's opened up some great opportunities for us," continued Amig. "We look forward to embracing those opportunities and working with a fine collection of people who are passionate about the hobby. Together, we'll produce a first class show."
Lance Miller, co-owner of Carlisle Events continued by saying, "Everyone on the Carlisle Events team takes great pride in working with various charities, local businesses and simply knowing there's a strong economic impact for the many surrounding businesses in general. With this said, it deeply saddened us when we heard about the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show cancellation, if for no other reason than for the negative financial impact it was going to have on so many people. We have seen substantial support for our upcoming event and a tremendous increase in communications with many vendors and potential sponsors." Miller concluded, "We're thrilled to apply our 40 years of knowledge in the event management business to an entirely new playing field for Carlisle Events and we're excited about the Carlisle Sports and Outdoor Nationals. We have every intention of making it the best it can be. Tell your friends and family because this show will be something very special."
