CARLISLE, PA (January 19, 2010) - Cumberland Valley is pleased to announce an exciting project to develop and distribute a local Agritourism and Outdoor Recreation Guide.

The project is a collaborative effort with the Cumberland County Planning OfficeCapital Resource Conservation & Development Council, Cumberland County Economic Development and the Cumberland Valley Visitors Bureau.

The goal of the guide is to promote local agricultural experiences and outdoor recreation to the local community as well as visitors. Additionally it will highlight the importance of agriculture and our abundant natural resources to our quality of life. The guide will include farmers markets, roadside stands, pick-your-own operations, farm stays, other agritourism locations and outdoor recreation in Cumberland Valley.

The project is expected to be complete in April 2010. Once printed, the guide will be distributed to all locations listed in the guide and will be made available at those locations, any interested businesses who would like to display them, the Cumberland County Planning Office and the Cumberland Valley Visitors Bureau.

The project is an initiative of the South Mountain Partnership.  The South Mountain Partnership is a unified group of private citizens, business, not-for-profit organizations and governmental officials working to protect, preserve and enhance the South Mountain Landscape in Central Pennsylvania.  The guide was financed in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
