CARLISLE, PA - Each year at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, a festival takes place. There aren't rides and games, rather this festival hosts thousands of cars, enthusiasts and vendors as part of the Carlisle Import & Kit Nationals. In addition, the event, which takes place May 17-19, plays host to multiple bands as part of its overall international celebration. Those bands, along with the cars on display combine to make up the best import and kit car themed event in the country.
Gates open at 7 a.m. daily for the show and not long after the first patrons come onsite, music will fill the air. This year, music will emanate from four different locations and feature at least ten bands. Not only will music again be featured on the River 97.3 main stage, there will also be a stage of sorts positioned near the main entrance showfield entrance; Gate 3 as well as one located near Building Y and the notary office. Further, everyone onsite can get a taste of the musical fun with a band that will tour the grounds by playing and riding on the Carlisle Events tram.
Acts and locations onsite vary, but beginning at noon on Friday, the following are scheduled to appear: Across the Pond, Jazz Me Rhythm & Blues and the Close to Consideration Band. On Saturday, all locations will be up and running beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday music will feature Soul House, the Peyton Taylor Band, Across the Pond, the Funktion Band, Margy & the Original Substance and The DeAngelo Gypsys. Sunday wraps the musical and automotive fun with the sounds of Wave and the Jazz Me Rhythm & Blues Band. In addition, the No Last Call Band will be the group roving the grounds and playing the tram.
"Cool cars are meant to be seen and heard but in a car show setting, they typically sit idle," said event manager Ed Buczeskie. "That leaves a vacancy in the air for car people so the next best thing to fill that void is music. Like the cars, we aim for music from around the world and it adds a real energy to the show!"
A truly unique and engaging auto festival, the Carlisle Import & Kit Nationals welcomes an eclectic mix of over 1,500 vehicles from vintage to modern imports to many varieties of kit cars. Enthusiasts can take a tour of the automotive world in Carlisle. Organized by country of origin, the showfield will please children and adults alike as they get their passport stamped and indulge in international flavors. Restoration items are available too via a wide variety of vendors in our Manufacturers Midway, swap meet and car corral. These options offer the best in parts, accessories and automotive buying. The Carlisle Import & Kit Nationals - a weekend full of international fun for the entire family.
