GARDNERS, PA (January 27, 2011) - On Thursday, May 5, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Kings Gap Environmental Education Center will offer a free teacher workshop for educators of grades 6-12. A relationship exists in a particular body of water between the diversity of aquatic macro invertebrates found and the water quality.
In order to examine this relationship, it is necessary to be able to identify the macro invertebrates that are present. This program will focus on identification to the order level by use of a dichotomous key. Information on the relationship between water quality and aquatic organisms will also be discussed. This workshop is highly recommended for teachers who have attended or will attend a Watershed Education workshop, and is offered cooperatively with the Department of Environmental Protection. Registration deadline is April 4. Act 48 hours are not available from PDE. Kings Gap will provide documentation of participation to your employer. The workshop is free but pre-registration is required. Contact gpadilla.state.pa.us, or call 717-486-3799.
