CARLISLE, PA – The Carlisle Truck Nationals run August 5-7, 2016, at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds.  The event hosts 2,000 trucks, including a few hundred tractor trailers and welcomes nearly 40,000 truck crazy enthusiasts to central Pennsylvania.  As part of the big rig display, guests at Carlisle and sports fans alike can enjoy THE hauler responsible for moving the Penn State Nittany Lions football gear from game to game through its season schedule.

While truck weekend is one of the backend events on the Carlisle Events season schedule, this same time frame serves as “go time” for the football team at Penn State.  By the time the truck show gets underway, the football team will have already begun its summer camp practices in preparation for their September 3 game vs. Kent State.  One week later on September 10, the PSU hauler as seen at Carlisle, will traverse Pennsylvania as it makes its way west to Pittsburgh for a big rivalry game against Pitt.

The truck itself is operated by Hoy Transfer of State College and is a true gem.  Many teams, pro and college, have haulers like this, but it’s the only one that is run by the oldest family-owned business in State College.  Hoy has been moving Penn State gear since the 1970’s and its current owner, Kevin Briscoe has been with the company since 1985.  In 2011, Briscoe went to work on making this Peterbilt hauler the talk of the Big Ten.  In true PSU tradition, it is a classic look, complete with white paint and a single blue stripe. The front bumper looks like a face mask and new blue ground lighting makes the rig pop at night.  Briscoe, along with three others, take turns driving the rig to every single road game on the PSU schedule.

Traveling thousands of miles during the regular season and a few thousand more for a late year bowl game, the truck can hold all aspects of the team’s equipment.  From pads to helmets, cleats to apparel, if the team may need it for a road game, it goes in the truck.

Don’t miss the Penn State hauler at the Carlisle Truck Nationals in August and pick up a PSU season schedule while onsite too.  And if you happen to follow the team to one of its five scheduled road games in 2016, look for the hauler near the visitors’ locker room.

The Carlisle Truck Nationals not only offers the excitement of big rigs onsite, it also offers a full weekend of family fun.  The event showcases trucks of all eras and all sizes.  There are monster truck shows and monster truck rides, special displays and more.  Children 12 and under are always admitted free at Carlisle and an adult ticket is just $12.  A weekend pass is $20 and covers all aspects of the weekend.  Complete details can be found at or by calling 717-243-7855.
