CARLISLE, PA - In April of 2014, Capital Area Transit launched its new CAT Circulator service for the Carlisle area. Now, just days in front of the 2014 Carlisle Ford Nationals (June 6-8), CAT has furthered its Carlisle service with a dedicated stop at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds. The loop that includes stops at the fairgrounds runs throughout show days and starts and ends at the Fairfield Inn & Suites (1528 Commerce Avenue) on the south side of Carlisle.
With a total circuit time of 75 minutes, the CAT bus will not only stop at multiple locations around Carlisle, it will have a dedicated stop at the fairgrounds for the Carlisle Ford Nationals next week, Corvettes at Carlisle in August and Fall Carlisle in October. The first stop at the grounds will be at approximately 7:45 a.m. with the last stop at 7 p.m. The stop itself is positioned outside of Gate 1 (across from the Fairgrounds Diner). This particular loop runs $1.75 per person one way. If connecting from outside of Carlisle, an additional cost of $1.75 will apply per person. That means a round trip for two is $7 (from within Carlisle) or $14 (from outside of Carlisle). There is even a stop near the downtown area on Saturday night in front of the Carlisle Ford Parade and Street party. Not only is the ride a bargain, but it helps alleviate traffic congestion within downtown Carlisle during event weekends.
"This special event service is part of the three-year CAT Carlisle Circulator service currently operating in the Borough," said CAT General Manager Bill Jones.
In addition to the support from CAT, Carlisle Events' co-owner Bill Miller, Jr., recognizes the importance of having alternative ways for enthusiasts of all ages to enjoy and reach the happenings at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds.
"For years we've tried to find ways to better involve the local and regional communities with what we offer at Carlisle. In the past, we've offered shuttle service from the grounds to businesses and entertainment venues offsite, but this is first time we've been able to welcome a business like CAT that is dedicated to bringing people to our entertainment venue. Though these stops are limited in 2014, we look forward to seeing the service grow and for everyone to come to Carlisle for one of many exciting events this year and beyond."
"CAT public information staff will be available at Carlisle Fairgrounds and the Gate 1 stop to answer questions, provide public schedules and sign up senior citizens for free lifetime passes," added Bob Philbin, CAT Planning, Customer Experience and Public Information Director.
The Carlisle Ford Nationals commences at 7 a.m. on June 6 and includes a bevy of Ford-themed excitement. There are unique displays, celebrations, test drives, walk around sessions and even the chance to see the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang and 2015 Ford F-150. Adult tickets run $12 daily and $7 on Sunday, while all kids 12 and under are admitted free.
