Sometimes it's hard to get out and about in March because it feels like its been cold and dark forever. However, I encourage you to check out all the opportunities in Cumberland Valley to learn something creative or new this month. Take a day, or the whole weekend, and bring your friends to explore something different and step outside your comfort zone with a new activity!

Begin planning your crafty getaway by looking at the classes at the Carlisle Arts Learning Center. Highlights include pottery, painting, sculpting and more. Gain inspiration by viewing the artwork on display in their gallery. You can also take painting, drawing and pottery classes at the Art Center School & Galleries in Mechanicsburg.

Another spot where creative minds meet in Carlisle is the Harmony Society. This local shop also features fun classes bringing together like-minded people like knitters, crocheters, wood whittlers, quilters, embroiderers and more.

For more creative fun in Carlisle, stop by Meadowbrooke Gourds. You can tour the shop and browse all the beautiful creations they make from the gourds they grow, or you can schedule to take a class to paint a gourd of your own.

Head to Mechanicsburg and learn about tea, herbs and crafts for your kitchen at The Rosemary House.

Get on board with the paint night craze at one of the dedicated studios in the Valley. Grab your friends, and a bottle of your favorite wine, and take a class at Spritz & Splatter, aMuse Uncorked, Artzaholic and Paint & Create.

If you're looking for a creative outlet with gardening and plants try a class at Ashcombe Farm & Greenhouses or through the Penn State Ag Extension Office.

Other ideas to add to your March getaway include the Antiques Trail, the Artisan Adventure Trail and the Covered Bridge & Wine Loop. You can also browse a list of March events here.
