June 6 marks the 83rd anniversary of the first drive-in theater opening in 1933. Celebrate by visiting Cumberland Drive-In Theatre this summer. It's a movie-watching experience like none other!

When the sun goes does down, soak in the warm summer nights at Cumberland Drive-In Theatre. This theater, ranked one of the 11 Surviving Drive-In Theaters That Are Worth a Road Trip, is located in Newville.

Operating every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening through the summer, the drive-in provides a big screen under the stars. Roll down your car windows, lounge back in your favorite lawn chair (or in your car), cuddle up with a blanket and enjoy the show! One of the best parts of the drive-ins is the casual atmosphere - you are far enough from everyone else to quietly chat about the movie without interrupting anyone. This also makes it great for kids as they have some flexibility to move around, and can be quietly tucked in the car when they get sleepy.

Another great aspect of the drive-ins is that they are affordable. Adult tickets are $8, children ages 3-12 are $4 and children under 3 are free. Admission includes two movies, which are typically movies released in the last two weeks. There is also a reasonably-priced snack bar serving up pizza, pretzels, nachos, fries, candy and my favorite nostalgic treat - slush puppies!

Whether you've never experienced a drive-in or just haven't been to one in awhile, treat yourself and visit this summer!
