This weekend I was invited to watch a motocross race at Doublin Gap in Newburg.  I had never been to a live motocross race before, and wasn't really sure what to expect. Motocross racing seems to be a bit different than other dirt track racing I've attended.  There isn't a parking lot - you just park in the grass alongside all of the trailers and bikes.  There also aren't bleachers (at least not at this track).  Instead, you stand in tall platform towers so you can see different parts of the track.

The track is the biggest difference.  Instead of one oval, the track is HUGE and winding and includes lots of jumps.  Even standing on a platform I couldn't see the entire track.  You are also very close to the track, and actually have to sign a release waiver.

The actual races are a bit different than what I'm used to as well.  There are different classes (there is even a class of 5 and 6 year olds - they are adorable!), but they will release different classes at the same time to race on the track.  Being my first time there, this was very confusing because I couldn't see the entire track and when one class started catching up to the class in front of it I completely lost track of who was winning.

Overall, I had a fun day.  I didn't know who was winning or what was happening, but watching the racers slide around turns and hit the jumps was really interesting for me.  I even included a short video for your viewing pleasure!
