10. Shippensburg Symphony:
The Shippensburg Festival Symphony is an ensemble of professional musicians from Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia. The orchestra was formed to provide regional audiences with top-quality professional orchestral performances. The Festival Festival Chorus is 26 professional singers from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland and Virginia. The Festival is under the artistic direction of Dr. Blaine Shover, professor of music at Shippensburg University. Robert Treviño is in his third season conducting the symphony. This season explores some of the last works of composers such as Mozart, Schumann, and Tchaikovsky. Concert I will feature Simone Lamsma, violinist. Concert II will feature Alain Lefevre, pianist. Concert III includes The Shippensburg Festival Chorus as well as four guest soloists: Elizabeth Shoenfelt, soprano; Leah Serr, mezzo-soprano; Steve Cramer, tenor; Bryan Jackson, bass.

Jim DeFelice will present on "American Sniper." The U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center sponsors the Perspectives in Military History Lecture Series which provides a historical dimension to the exercise of generalship, strategic leadership, and the war fighting institutions of land power. The building opens at 6:30 pm, the talk begins at 7:15 pm, and the question period concludes around 8:30 pm. All are welcome and the event is free.

Dickinson will host the 20th Annual Bluegrass on the Grass Festival on Saturday, July 11, from noon – 8 p.m. on the Bosler Hall porch on the John Dickinson campus, West High Street between West and North College streets. The event is free and open to the public and will be held rain or shine. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets; the lawn can be accessed for chair set-up beginning at 8 a.m. on the day of the festival. The festival will feature high-quality performers and a mix of bands that offer bluegrass aficionados a variety of styles and subgenres. This year’s lineup features Tellico; Jake Krack & Bing Brothers; The Dismembered Tennesseans; Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper; and Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out.

Summerfair originated in 1978 and has continued ever since with its commitment to provide the community with family-friendly events offered at no cost. Major events include a 5k/10k run, an all-star softball game, a parade and ice cream social, a craft show/festival, a children's fishing derby, a Civil War walking tour, tours of the Old Courthouse, and an "anything floats" contest. Nashville recording artists Thompson Square will kick off the 2015 Carlisle Chrysler Nationals with a Thursday night concert. The husband and wife team have twice received the ACM Vocal Duo of the Year award. They have racked up five top 40 songs, two of which have hit #1. They are now coming to Carlisle in support of their latest single climbing the charts, a summertime car tune called Trans Am. Local artist Lindsey Erin will open for Thompson Square.
Concert seating is open air and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests only coming for early-bird day or who don't want a guaranteed seat, simply pay $12 grounds admission. Those looking to assure themselves of seating are encouraged to purchase the $25 ticket which also provides grounds access. All concert guests require a ticket, regardless of age. The $25 ticket also provides its buyer with a FREE one day pass to use for a car show day of their choice at a future 2015 season event. Tickets will be available at the gate or click here to pre-purchase.
