With the unseasonably warm weather we've been experiencing in Cumberland Valley, it's getting increasingly more difficult to stay in during our lunch hour. Last week we decided to get some fresh air and walked to Cafe Bruges, a Belgium restaurant located in downtown Carlisle.
There is a nice mix of traditional Belgium cuisine and lunch time favorites like salads and burgers on the menu. We ordered fries with dipping sauce as an appetizer and I ordered crepes for lunch. They were stuffed with caramelized onions, asparagus and ham and drizzled with a cheese sauce. They were fantastic and I really wished there were more than two, but the side salad was good too.
The dessert menu looked outstanding, but I just didn't have any room left. The waffles received great reviews from one of my lunch partners, but my interest was caught by the chocolate mousse!
Cafe Bruges is also known for its imported Belgium beers. Since it was lunch time we didn't get a chance to sample any, but I might make a trip back some evening after work to check out the selection.
