If there is one thing small towns should do well... it's put on community events.. and Carlisle is certainly good at that! Every year we have a couple of interfaith services that are really well done. Just last weekend was the 23 Annual Martin Luther King Jr Celebration held this year at Grace United Methodist Church.

The event began with a march to the New Courthouse that consisted of a color guard, masons, ministers and the Bethel A.M.E. Church Soldiers for Christ Youth Choir. There was music and speaking on the steps of Courthouse and then the color guard led all of the attendees back to the Grace United Methodist Sanctuary for the rest of the ceremony. This is always my favorite part of events such as these since it always makes such a public impact to have any kind of march through the streets of Carlisle (not to mention that my two year old loves drummers and soldiers!). This year's march was conducted on the side walks but there were police at every intersection assisting with the street crossings and traffic issues.
