Sometimes students find themselves with a little extra time on their hands. Usually, this spare time comes about from having a break from school or having less to do than their normal workload. Students should not fret however because there are many things you can do to keep yourself busy and enjoy the area you live in.

5. The Select Diner

Open 24/7 the local diner is a great spot to grab a bite whenever you’re feeling hungry. They offer all day breakfast, lunch and dinner specials, and are BYOB friendly. For students, they offer a 10% discount on your bill when you show your student ID upon paying.

4. Arooga’s Grille House & Sports Bar

For anybody who enjoys sports then Arooga’s is the destination for you. Everywhere you will find multiple flat screen TV’s showing all the games going on every day and night. This is the place to be when you want to watch your favorite team with your friends while getting some great food, drinks, and service.

3.  The Thought Lot

Shippensburg’s own contemporary arts center that hosts a multitude of performances and events. This is a great place to catch a show from a local band and become fans before they get too famous. Or join them for events such as the annual Bearding Man competition, which is a chance for local beard growing athletes to showcase their hard work. The Thought Lot is also the location for Shippensburg’s Farmers Market for those who want to eat fresh and local produce.

2. Olde Scotland Yard Golf and Learning Center

Just because it’s not vacation at the beach doesn’t mean you can play golf. Olde Scotland Yard is the only average Joe and pro golfing in Shippensburg. They offer mini-golf, a driving range, and lessons for those who want to take a few strokes off their game. There is even a pro shop to satisfy all your golf equipment needs.

1. Local Bars

For those who are ages 21 and above, Shippensburg has a handful of local bars to enjoy a night out with friends. There is a spot for everyone to have a good time depending on the atmosphere you prefer. Your choices range from University Grille, Wibs, Orky’s, Aroogas and CJ’s. Often these establishments have specials that make your evening more affordable and fun.  Each location is also within walking distance of Shippensburg University, which is great for your friend who doesn’t have a car and always needs a ride.
