Cumberland Valley has no real souvenir shops, but I like to think of History on High - The Shop, as a great place to stop while visiting to collect a memory from your trip, or to buy a local gift. Part of the Cumberland County Historical Society, History on High - The Shop stocks seasonal inventory on consignment from local artists to include prints, soaps, hand-carved figurines, felted wool animals, purses, scarves, jewelry and more. There are many county and town-specific gifts like maps, postcards and crocks, as well as DVDs about our communities. Historians will enjoy the book selection and kids will love the historic reproduction games.
Today's gift is for the host or hostess in your life, and includes the following:
- Hand-carved walnut and cherry bowl ($17.50)
- Hand-carved wood cheese and butter spreader ($4.00)
- Oil & Garlic dipping mix ($2.99)
While visiting the shop, be sure to walk through the Cumberland Valley Visitor Center to pick up maps, brochures and Visitor Guides. Extend your visit by walking next door to the G.B. Stuart History Workshop or the upstairs museum at the Cumberland County Historical Society.
