It's no secret that Cumberland Valley loves cold treats, ranging from build-your-own frozen yogurt sundaes to more commonly known ice cream chains.  My favorite ice cream is hand-dipped, and lucky for me, Cumberland Valley has some stellar parlors to indulge my cravings.

This week I visited Rakestraw's Ice Cream Company, which is tucked away off of Market Street in Mechanicsburg.  It offers a variety of unique flavors like Whoopie Pie, Butter Brickle and Pumpkin, as well as the more traditional flavors.  Although Black Raspberry is the most popular flavor, I opted for Almond Joy, in sundae form.  The picture doesn't really do it any justice - it was HUGE and delicious.  I couldn't finish it, which may be a first when it comes to ice cream.

Rakestraw's also offers other fun treats like chocolate covered pretzels and Oreos, Stewarts Soft Drinks and Gettysburg Pretzels.  They even have frozen treats for your dogs so they can join in on the fun!
