CCHS is featuring a fashion show during its' Inaugural Annual Gala presented by the Bobby Rahal Automotive Group on October 9, 2021. Inspired by the 2021 exhibit, "A Woman's Place: The Changing Role of Women in Cumberland County," CCHS invites regional fashion designers to pull inspiration from our textile collection and reinvent those looks for the modern woman. This culminates in a runway show that blends history with fashion while celebrating the evolving role of women in Cumberland County.

Held at the historic Two-Mile House in Carlisle, this upscale event highlights how Cumberland County, while considered the frontier during the latter half of the 18th century, was still conscious of current fashion. Many shop and probate records from that time detail how well-to-do families demanded the latest styles to compete with larger cities, such as Philadelphia. CCHS embraces the history of Cumberland County's fashion and uses it to help propel the telling of women's evolving role in the community.

Join us for an evening of fun in support of the Cumberland County Historical Society. Food and drinks will be provided, as well as a silent auction. Help CCHS in our mission to collect, preserve, interpret and promote research and education about the history of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Your generous support allows CCHS to continue to provide community programming, preserve our collections, and offer a free museum for all!
