Cumberland Valley Race Series: Fall Down on the Trail 5k Race and Trail Hike
Join the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail for the 11th annual Adamantine 5K and the 21st annual Fall Down on the trail hike. Also this year CVRTC will be having a ribbon cutting for the Big Spring Road bridge and the tunnel under Rt 233. The hike will go through both of the new structures and continue on to preview the 2018 extension that will add 2 more miles of trail.
The 4-mile point to point hike starts at the Newville trail head of the Cumberland Valley Rail-Trail and finishes in Oakville at the Oakville Methodist Church. The Rail-Trail has a smooth, crushed stone surface that runs through beautiful farmland. A return shuttle will be provided. There is no fee for the hike or shuttle.
An out-and-back 5k (3.1 mile) race on the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail begins and ends at the Newville Trailhead. The course is gently uphill until the turn around and downhill back to the finish. The race starts at 8:30 am
Prior to the 5k, there will be a" kids" one-mile out and back fun run. All kids ages 1 to 100 are invited to participate.
Go to www.timberhilltiming.com to register for the race. Registration begins at the trailhead at 8:00 am. Event will be held rain or shine. All proceeds benefit the Cumberland Valley Rails-to-Trails Council, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.
