Discovery Lecture Series: Halloween Owls

Halloween Owls features live owls from Penn State University's Shaver's Creek Environmental Center. Experts on night-time raptors will explore the facts and shatter the myths about these beautiful creatures. Certified bird banders from the Center's Northern Saw-Whet Owl Banding Project will provide owl banding demonstrations and discuss the Center's effort to gather more information on the tiny birds that migrate through Penn's Woods on cold fall nights.

Families are invited to a kid-friendly program from 6-7 p.m., with a second program geared to adult audiences from 7:30-9 p.m. Both will feature live owls from Shaver's Creek Environmental Center and owl-banding demonstrations.

This event is part of the Discovery Lecture Series, a series of evening programs designed to educate the public about the natural world and inspire active participation in it.

Admission to the program is $5 per person. Ned Smith Center members can use their membership coupons to receive $1 off admission to the program. Pre-register by phone at 717-692-3699 or on the Center's website,
