In Between the Lines and Outside the Canon: Learning from What They Don’t Teach You
A scholar in Christian education and practical theology, the Rev. Annie Lockhart-Gilroy, a 1997 Dickinson graduate, will share insight into her journey in faith and education. Lockhart-Gilroy will deliver the Cogan Alumni Fellowship talk, “In Between the Lines and Outside the Canon: Learning from What They Don’t Teach You,” on Monday, Feb. 25, at 4:30 p.m. in the Stern Center, Great Room, 208 West Louther St. The event is free and open to the public.
Lockhart-Gilroy teaches at Phillips Theological Seminary, where she works with students from middle school through the doctoral level. She has worked with youth as a teacher, coach, youth minister and Christian educator for almost two decades. She earned her Ph.D. in Christian Education and Congregational Studies from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and her M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary. Her teaching and research interests include womanist approaches to working with black girls, emancipatory pedagogy, faith and developmental theories and ministry to, with, and for youth and young adults.
