Ironmasters Mansion Tour

Ironmasters Mansion Tour

Overview
Locations

The 1829 Ironmaster’s Mansion at Pine Grove Furnace is steeped in history, operating from the Industrial Revolution through the American Civil War to the close of the 19th century. Starting Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, historic tours of the Mansion are offered most Sundays at 3 PM.

Tours last approximately one hour. Topics include the brick building's history, furnace owners such as the Ege family and Jay Cooke, and the ironworks' involvement in both slavery and the Underground Railroad. Meet on the Mansion's south-facing covered porch. For 2019, the first tour is May 26, the last tour is September 1.

Mansion tours may be canceled if the building is reserved for a special event -- check with the park office, email pinegrovefriends@gmail.com or leave a message on the Friends of Pine Grove Furnace Facebook page to be sure a tour is occurring on a particular Sunday. (At this time the only known Mansion tour cancelation is July 7.)
