The Little Buffalo Festival near Newport celebrates thirty-three years of good times this fall. Saturday, Oct. 1, from noon to dusk, Little Buffalo State Park will host musicians on three stages, arts, crafts, the Buffalo Kids Artsfest, poetry readings, workshops, demonstrations and great food.

Produced by The Buffaloes and sponsored by Perry County Council of the Arts, the event is free and located at the east end of the park at 1579 State Park Road at the dam breast of Holman Lake.

Susquenita Westside Singers kick off the performances at the Moore Pavilion at noon and builds with a variety of musicians to the grand finale, Flux Capacitor. Woven between the main stage acts is music on the acoustic stage beginning with Ghost Town Cinema The children’s area features many arts and crafts plus a multitude of performers.

Countless workshops have highlighted things such as Tai Chi, photography for kids eight to 12 years of age, yoga, a new vision of agriculture, community mural project, natural mothering and blacksmithing.

A writer’s nook will speak to many aspects of writing. Lynne Reeder will begin with a reading at 1:30 p.m., followed by Tony Bosak and Marty Esworthy with open reading times between.

Food stands and arts and craft vendors will satisfy every need.

Admission is free but donations are accepted. Parking is ample and convenient.
