Overview

Monroe Township will host a Memorial Day ceremony at 10 a.m. at Mount Zion Cemetery (located at the intersection of Routes 74 and 174 outside of Boiling Springs). Limited seating will be available. The ceremony will last about 45 minutes. The speaker will be Eric Hornberger, Chief Operations Specialist, Surface Warfare Specialist, United States Navy, Retired. Hornberger is a Monroe Township native. His Navy career began after he graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in 1989. He will speak on the topic "Gone, but not Forgotten." The Cumberland Valley JROTC Color Guard will be part of our program. Sharon Nelson will lead a sing-a-long of patriotic music. Bagpiper Bill Gable will play two selections and Bill Castle will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Boy Scout Troop 333, Brownie Troop 11408 and Girl Scout Troop 12083 will assist with the event. If there is inclement weather, the ceremony will be in the Monroe Township Building, 1220 Boiling Springs Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
