This tour provides the history of the community and the former church that supported the c.1870 community. It also provides the history of the nearby cemetery that is the final resting place for seven African American Civil War Veterans, some of whom were formerly enslaved. Both the former church and the nearby cemetery are listed on the Preservation PA at Risk list, the Cumberland County Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places. This tour provides information about the discovery, the history, and the preservation journey which continues into 2025. This tour requires some walking and will begin at Mt. Tabor AME Zion church, 13 Cedar Street, Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065, and will occur rain or shine.
