Night of Flight
The abundance of flora and fauna at the Letort Spring Garden Preserve are often appreciated during the day. But as the sun sinks below the horizon, nocturnal creatures awaken from their slumber. Some of the most fantastic nocturnal animals are those that fly - bats, owls, and moths!
Join us for FREE programming and a guided walk at the Letort Spring Garden Preserve to celebrate creatures of the night! This exclusive nighttime experience will give you a deeper understanding and appreciation for the things we don't always see.
6:45 to 8:00: Learn about bats, owls, and moths (Julie Zeyzus, Bat Conservation and Management and Betsy Leppo, PA Natural Heritage Program)
8:00 to 9:00: Take a guided walk to catch a glimpse of the nocturnal flying creatures that call the Preserve home
Please wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes (sandals not recommended) and bring a refillable water bottle. Bring a headlamp or flashlight, too, if you'd like. We will be walking an uneven mowed path for about half the tour.
