Why does the Carlisle Barracks host an Oktoberfest? Army, Morale, Welfare & Recreation exists to enhance the quality of life, enrich living and working environments, and foster a sense of community for Soldiers, Family members and civilians. Since 2008, Carlisle Barracks has hosted Oktoberfest. This is a great opportunity for the military community to interact with the public in a positive and fun venue. Many service members have spent countless tours of duty in Germany and reflect fondly on their time abroad. We give back to our Soldiers a quality of life that they have pledged to defend for us all.
About the US Army Heritage & Education Center The U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center (USAHEC) is the premier facility for historical research on U.S. Army history and is dedicated to "Telling the Army story...one Soldier at a time." The main gallery features the exhibit, "The Soldier Experience," highlighting the history of the U.S. Army from the Spanish-American War to current missions, as well as a changing gallery, currently showcasing, "A Great Civil War: 1863, Battles That Defined a Nation." The mile-long outdoor Army Heritage Trail allows visitors to experience history in a new way, through interactive and full-scale military exhibits. Exhibits include a Cobra helicopter, Civil War encampment cabins, WWI trench system and more highlighting the different eras of American military history.
