Pine Grove Furnace State Park History Tours

Overview
Locations

Iron Furnace historic core area walking tours last one to two hours, depending on the level of interest and group size. The full tour covers almost 8/10ths of a mile while walking on grass, paved and gravel roads, flat sections and two gentle slopes, and (optionally at the end) a short flat hiking trail with rough footing to visit an iron ore quarry. Proper footwear is needed. Tours occur rain or shine; in the event of severe summer thunderstorms or other bad weather, the tour may be limited to show-and-tell in the Furnace Stack Pavilion. Furnace walking tours begin and end at the old stone furnace stack, on these dates and times for 2019:

  • May 25 at 2 PM
  • June 1 at 10 AM
  • July 6 at 10 AM
  • August 3 at 10 AM

These tours are led by Andre Weltman, chairman of the Friends of Pine Grove Furnace State Park.
