Session 1: Green Living for Sustainability
This session will provide a top ten list of behavioral changes that individuals can make in their everyday living practices to have a big impact on reducing their footprints. They will evaluate current practices in their homes or at their places of work and identify areas for improvement. Participants will learn the basics of living more sustainably through composting and waste reduction, green laundry and cleaning, energy conservation, transportation, and fashion. Do-it-yourself tips and tricks will leave participants feeling inspired to create simple, positive changes in their lives.
Session 2: Why Bees are Amazing and What We are Doing About It!?
The Hive is the newest living laboratory at Dickinson. The Hive engages students, staff, and faculty in learning about sustainability problems and solutions through the direct experience of beekeeping, honey production, and community building. This interactive workshop will provide an overview of beekeeping, the biology of bees, and an overview of some of the sustainable products produced with their wax and honey. Participants will have the opportunity to sample honey, explore beekeeping equipment and make connections to how bees relate to sustainability.
