Former acting solicitor general of the U.S., Neal Katyal, will discuss the Supreme Court, President Trump, Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation and the rule of law in the lecture, “Talk is Trump and the Rule of Law,” on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter (ATS) Auditorium, 360 W. Louther St. The event is free and open to the public.

Katyal, who served in the Obama Administration, is the Paul and Patricia Saunders Professor of Law at Georgetown University and a partner at international law firm Hogan Lovells. An Indian-American, Katyal has argued more Supreme Court cases than any other minority attorney, recently breaking the record held by the court’s first African-American justice, the late Thurgood Marshall. Recently, Katyal argued the “travel ban” case on behalf of the state of Hawaii against the Trump Administration. In 2017, American Lawyer Magazine named Katyal its coveted Grand Prize Litigator of the Year. The U.S. Department of Justice honored Katyal with the Edmond Randolph Award, the department’s highest civilian award. Katyal has appeared on many major American news programs, as well as on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” and on Netflix’s “House of Cards,” where he portrayed himself.
