Volunteer Stream Monitoring: From the Letort to the Susquehanna
Join us for “Volunteer Monitoring and Stream Health: From the Letort to the Susquehanna” on Saturday, September 18! Dickinson College’s Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring (ALLARM) looks forward to celebrating World Water Monitoring Day with participants. ALLARM will discuss community-based stream monitoring and attendees will have the opportunity to try out a diversity of techniques. Stephanie Letourneau from ALLARM will explore water quality and stream health, volunteer efforts in Cumberland County, including Susquehanna Stream Team, and volunteer monitoring in the Chesapeake Bay region. Stephanie Letourneau is the Community Science Specialist for Dickinson College’s Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring. Stephanie coordinates ALLARM’s participation in the Chesapeake Monitoring Cooperative, where she works with a dynamic team across the Chesapeake Bay states to support community-based data collection efforts and integrates data into a regional database, the Chesapeake Data Explorer. Additionally, Stephanie coordinates ALLARM’s Susquehanna Stream Team program working with partners and volunteers throughout central Pennsylvania. Stephane graduated in 2020 from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in environmental science.
