When Poetry is Prayer
When Poetry is Prayer, taught by Ruth Leach, is offered as part of the Carlisle Institute for Lifelong Learning.
The relationship between poetry and prayer has a long history going all the way back to the Psalms. Over the centuries, poetry for many has continued to point to larger spiritual sensitivities and thus to prayer. Contemporary poetry is no exception. To this end, we will examine the work of Wendell Berry, Emily Dickinson, and Mary Oliver to better understand how their poetry might impact and inform our own spiritual journeys today.
