In the early years of the past century, Cumberland County's rail service was a gateway to the world. A sign posted along US 11 and 15 at Enola announced Enola Yard as "The World's Largest Freight Yard." Local agricultural products, coal from Winchester, VA, manufactured products, and passengers arrived and departed the Cumberland Valley Railroad's busy Mechanicsburg Train Station. This interesting museum exhibit explores how Mechanicsburg and the surrounding areas became prosperous due to a network of railroad tracks.
