details

Located across the Susquehanna River from Cumberland County, Fort Hunter Mansion and Park invites you to explore Pennsylvania's rich history. Built as a fort by the British during the French and Indian War, this location has also served as a farm that eventually grow into a frontier village. The farm and mansion went through several owners before the Fort Hunter Foundation was established in 1956. Presently owned by the County of Dauphin and Board of Trustees for Fort Hunter, the park provides recreational facilities embracing the Mansion, several other historic buildings -- including a barn, tavern house, covered bridge, and service states -- and 40 acres of open park land-- all with a magnificent view of the Susquehanna River.
