About Best in the Valley

Campaign Goals

The goals of this campaign are to increase brand awareness; solicit feedback from our community, visitors and partners; and recognize Cumberland Valley partners. 

How it Works

Visitors, residents and businesses are eligible to vote. Votes can be collected via an online form and at business-to-business tradeshows and events.

There are four voting categories:

  • Sleep (lodging) - Hotels, motels and B&Bs located within Cumberland Valley are eligible for this category. 
  • Eat (restaurants) - Regional chain and independent restaurants located within Cumberland Valley are eligible for this category. National chain restaurants are not eligible to receive Best in the Valley recognition at this time.
  • Shop (retail shops) - Independent shops located within Cumberland Valley are eligible for this category. Chain stores are not eligible to receive Best in the Valley recognition at this time.
  • See & Do (attractions) - Attractions, outdoor assets (parks, streams, golf courses) and entertainment-based businesses located within Cumberland Valley are eligible for this category.
  • Spend a Day Outdoors (outdoor attraction) - National, state and local parks, trails, streams and other outdoor assets including golf courses that are located within Cumberland Valley are eligible for this category.
  • Nightlife (attractions and restaurants) - Bars, clubs, restaurants, performing arts and other attractions with nighttime activities located within Cumberland Valley are eligible for this category.
  • Event (festivals and events) - Festivals, events, lecture series, demonstrations and hands-on classes located within Cumberland Valley are eligible for this category.

Votes for the 2017 Best in the Valley Winner will be collected October 1, 2015 thru December 31, 2016. Winners will be announced at the 2017 Tourism Conference in April 2017.

Prizes

The businesses with the most unique votes in their voting category will be recognized as the Best in the Valley winner and will win prize packages including:

  • Recognition on the CVVB website
  • Recognition in CVVB Partner and Visitor eNewsletters
  • Recognition in Press Release
  • Dated "Best of the Valley" window clings

BONUS Prizes: Special BONUS prizes will be determined during media planning and revealed at the annual Tourism Conference. These bonuses could be advertising, Visitor Guide features, inclusion in marketing campaigns or additional dated "Best in the Valley" collateral.

Voters will also have the opportunity to win prizes. Each quarter, a random drawing will be held and the winner will receive a $50 VISA Card.

Promotion

Businesses are encouraged to interact and promote the campaign to their customers to earn more votes. Some marketing suggestions to increase votes include:

  • Ask your customers to vote for you at your point of sale or have point of purchase displays
  • Distribute Vote for Me cards with checks, receipts or brochures
  • Display a Vote for Me cling at your business
  • Promotion on your twitter, Facebook, website or enewsletter with a hyperlink to the voting form
  • Add the vote for me symbol to your ad, business card or brochure
