CARLISLE, PA (June 10, 2011) - Hurry up and get your reservation in for the Cumberland County Historical Society's annual Adventure's in History Camp. Our first one-week summer camp adventure is alook at the Native American Eastern Woodlands. This popular camp is filling fast - sign up for the first session which is from Monday, June 13 - Friday, June 17th or the second session which is from Monday, June 20th - Friday, June 24th.
Camp meets each day meets from 9:00 a.m. - noon at the historic Two Mile House on the Walnut Bottom Road (across the street from K-Mart). Join educational curator Matthew March for hands-on interaction with historic crafts, games, food, music, and clothing as we explore the lifeways of Central Pennsylvania's earliest inhabitants. Campers will have the opportunity to wear deer hide clothing, participate in archery, do face and body painting, learn hunting techniques, make and play native games, create Woodland handicrafts and cook using corn recipes. Spaces are limited.
Children entering 4th, 5th or 6th grade in the fall of 2011 may attend. CCHS members are $105.00 and non-members are $150.00. (There is a discount of $10 per family for multiple family members attending any camp.)
Too old for this camp? Check out our "World War II and 1940s in Cumberland County" Camp which is for students entering 7th, 8th, or 9th grade in the fall of 2011 may attend. This camp is taking place Monday, July 11th - Friday, July 15th and Monday, July 18th - Friday, July 22nd.
