SHIPPENSBURG, PA (July 13, 2015) - The H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center at Shippensburg University announces its 2015-2016 season schedule today. Single tickets, season subscriptions and flex series tickets go on sale Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 11 a.m. Tickets can be purchased online at Luhrscenter.com or by visiting or calling the Luhrs Center Box Office at 717.477.SHOW (7469). Season subscriptions and flex series must be purchased in person or over the phone, and are not available to purchase online.
The Luhrs Performing Arts Center 2015-2016 season features a variety of entertainment options including rock, country and pop performances, children's and family programs, comedy, magic and much more (see full schedule below). This tenth anniversary season pays homage to many of the top-selling performances from the past nine seasons.
The Luhrs Center's 10th Anniversary, 2015-2016 season, kicks off on Friday, August 21 with comedian Kevin James' debut appearance.
This season's star-studded performances include: Vince Gill (Sept. 10); THE ORCHESTRA - Starring ELO and ELO Part II former members (Sept. 26), PETER FRAMPTON RAW, An Acoustic Tour (Oct. 17); REO Speedwagon (Oct. 21); Three Dog Night (Oct. 24); Paul Anka (Oct. 29); STYX (Nov. 11); The Tenors - "One Sky Tour" (Nov. 19); Celtic Woman "Home for Christmas" - The Symphony Tour (Dec. 3); Mannheim Steamroller Christmas by Chip Davis (Dec. 9); River City Brass "Brasstacular!" (Feb. 4); Joe Nichols (Feb. 13); Jay & The Americans, Dennis Tufano original lead singer of The Buckinghams, and The Happenings (Mar. 18); Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers (Apr. 21); Sinatra Forever: Salute to Frank Sinatra (May 14); and Hotel California "A Salute to the Eagles" (June 4).
To tickle your funny bone, we're offering Kevin James (Aug. 21); An Evening with Bill Engvall (Nov. 5), and Capitol Steps (Apr. 14). And for those who love our Broadway performances, we proudly present 42nd Street (Oct. 8); and Million Dollar Quartet (Apr. 2). Junie B's Essential Survival Guide to School (Dec. 5) and Skippyjon Jones Snow What (& the 7 Chihuahuas) (Mar. 19) are family-friendly performances for younger children from TheatreWorks USA. And join Jack Hanna's Into The Wild Live (Feb. 26) for an evening of Jack's favorite animal friends and stories that the entire family will enjoy. Other family favorites include Drew Thomas Magic "MATERIALIZE" (Feb. 19); YAMATO The Drummers of Japan: "Bakuon" - Legend of the Heartbeat (Mar. 15); and The Peking Acrobats "Year of the Monkey Celebration" (Apr. 7).
In support of Shippensburg University's H.O.P.E. Diversity Scholarship Program, award-winning actor, best-selling author, and philanthropist Hill Harper, will speak on the topic of "Building a Foundation for Your Life" (Feb. 25).
The Luhrs Center will again be hosting a special gala event preceding this year's performance of Million Dollar Quartet (Apr. 2). Luhrs Circle of Friends Gala (Apr. 2) is a night of friendship, festivities and fabulous food to help support the Luhrs Center. A donation to the Gala affords the donor outstanding member benefits such as priority ticket ordering, invitation to the Annual Fund President's Recognition Event, and more.
Ballroom Dance Lessons are offered on the Luhrs Center stage as Beginner, and Advanced structured classes for a 6 week period (weekly on Monday nights, beginning Oct. 19). Taught by seasoned dance instructor, Frank Hancock, this is a great opportunity to learn the basics or brush up on your skills as a Beginner; or learn the more advanced steps in the Advanced class.
