CARLISLE, PA (April 25, 2012) - The Cumberland Valley Visitors Bureau (CVVB) continues a winning streak of partnering with local businesses and organizations to open the Visitor Information Desk at the U.S. Army Heritage & Education Center (USAHEC) on May 1, 2012.
This unique collaboration between the CVVB, Army Heritage Center Foundation and the Carlisle Barracks Family Moral Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) has made this Visitor Information Desk at USAHEC possible. The Army Heritage Center Foundation will be leasing the space to the CVVB. The desk will be staffed by Leisure Travel Services and supplemented with CVVB volunteers.
"This partnership makes it possible to offer USAHEC's over 130,000 annual visitors an opportunity to extend their stay and plan for more time spent in Cumberland Valley and the region," said CVVB Director of Tourism, Shireen Farr. "USAHEC is a regional tourism asset that supports a military community and a visitor market that can now be offered travel information, trip suggestions and ticket sales through this desk."
This information desk will also be a great location to not only support USAHEC visitors, but for the CVVB to receive vital information about the audience and type of visitor they are receiving. This important information will help us better understand the area's market and how USAHEC and the CVVB can continue to support visitors and residents.
Due to the FMWR operating arrangement, visitors will be able to purchase tickets to local attractions at the Visitor Information Desk for a discounted rate. Locations include, Hersheypark, Harrisburg Senators, Dorney Park, Baltimore Aquarium, Regal Cinema, Dutch Wonderland, Roundtop Ski Resort/Whitetail/Liberty and the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire.
The grand opening for the Visitor Information Desk is Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at USAHEC, 950 Soldiers Dr., Carlisle. The CVVB will also officially unveil the new 2012 Cumberland Valley Visitors Guide at the grand opening.
