details
The Mechanicsburg Freight Station was built in 1886 by the Cumberland Valley Railroad, and is currently preserved by the Mechanicsburg Museum Association. The two-story building was used for freight shipments and deliveries until the 1950s. The building now houses a modern museum space with exhibits changing three times each year. Check the museum website for details of the current exhibit. The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, except during exhibit changes. Admission is free.
The Freight Station also contains the Museum Store for the Mechanicsburg Museum. They feature specialty gift items and crafts from the area.
