Hammonds Rocks Trails, in Michaux State Forest, is a simple hike that leads to a boulder outcrop, that is perfect for bouldering. The trail begins at the intersection of Pine Grove Road and Cold Springs Road near Laurel Lake in Pine Grove Furnace State Park. This trail runs along drivable roadways. The first .75 mile of the trail is paved and the last 2.25 miles of the trail are a mixture of gravel and dirt. Park at Laurel Lake for this route.
You could skip the hike and park along Ridge Road, 100 feet from Hammonds Rocks Vista.Turn on Ridge Road, located at the summit of the mountain and easy to miss.
When you reach the vista you'll see two rock pinnacles that stick straight up and look like they could easily be pushed over. On a clear day you can see Laurel Lake and Pole Steeple. If you are not comfortable climbing the rocks, veer to the right of the rocks for a nice overview.
