This beautifully decorated National Historic Landmark features paintings, stained glass, tile flooring and antique furnishing. Designed in the American Renaissance style and costing $13 million to build and furnish, the building was dedicated in October 1906 with President Theodore Roosevelt in attendance. The centerpiece is a spectacular 272-foot, 52 million pound dome. Thirty-minute guided tours point out the architectural and historic highlights and are given at select times on Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4 pm and during the weekends. Online reservations are required.
